PDX Urban Retreat V4: Sept 2026

Next Steps Urban Retreat V4: Led by Vincent Martínez-Grieco in Portland, Oregon

Join Vincent for this extended dancing experience in his jewel of a city!

It is volume 4 of our yearly Fall Retreat and this year we will be at the Norse Hall.

I believe Every body deserves a retreat from the doing and desiring, from time to time, in order to distance from what is busy and boastful to what can be restorative and rejuvenating.

Next Steps Contemplative Dancing is just the ticket with its room for mindfulness practices,  imagination intelligence, sensory adventures and good ole busting loose from the seams of stress with abandoned dancing.

There is a wisdom beyond time and space that tells us to get off spinning wheels of progression and growth and abide in a presence of pause, and the easy, the relaxed.

We deserve retreats to our interior vividness to restore self and to inhabit again our original landscapes of creativity and to remember and reclaim our signature dances.

Urban Retreats present a  relating and connections that are didactic free, fiercely honest, and recognizable.  Together we will improvise with dancing environments that respects everyone’s personal dignity and gift while rejoicing in a collective humanness.

The City:
I am aware that I am living on unceded land previously occupied and cared for by Multnomah, Wasco, Cowlitz, Kathlamet, Clackamas, Bands of Chinook, Tualatin Kalapuya, and Molalla. Come join me in my hometown and explore PDX and the many outstanding things she offers…

Cable cars, downtown Pioneer Square

Its many parks, highlighted by Forest Park, a 5200 acre Urban Forest

Restaurants and Food Carts ( a Portland tradition) abound

The Everett House, a Portland institution; I would use these facilities as a young dancer who had muscle aches after a long day of rehearsal and classes. It’s a clean and safe energy place you may enjoy as well.

Looking for a massage while here, I recommend the gifted hands of Nick at Massage Hodgepodge.
